 Frequently Asked Questions

"Isn’t the necklace dangerous? Couldn’t it get tightened around my baby’s neck? Doesn’t it pose a chocking hazard to my child?"

As for safety, please always supervise your child while wearing the necklace. Please read the manual carefully before wearing the necklace.
The necklace for sure won’t tighten “by itself” around the neck; everybody knows that who has ever worn a necklace. However, you have to pay careful attention that the necklace does not get caught in anything or pulled on. Moreover, if the necklace splits or one bead breaks, it should be immediately taken away from the child (chocking hazard). No beads should run down since all beads are inpidually hand-knotted on the thread. If only one bead gets broken the remaining beads stay intact.
IMPORTANT to note that even older children or children without supervision, in kinder garden or on the playground, should not wear necklaces of any kind.
Moreover, do not give the amber necklace to your child as a toy. Amber necklaces are made to be worn, not for chewing. Amber necklaces are not toys.
Amber necklaces can be safely worn from a very early age if supervised by an adult, with precautions, in order to prevent any kind of accidental pulling or chocking.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland amber necklaces have been passed on through generations as pain relievers during the time of teething. The necklaces usually fit nicely under the clothing, and the children are not even aware of them.

„Are amber necklaces really effective?”
In most cases amber necklaces are clearly proved to be effective, but there were a few cases, when customers reported no change. The effect mechanism cannot be guaranteed. However, amber necklaces provide a drug-free alternative for teething.

„Should I buy a necklace or a bracelet for my baby? Which is more effective?”
The bracelet contacts the skin on a much smaller surface than the necklace; therefore, its efficiency is probably lower; however, there have been positive feedbacks on bracelets as well. Most of our customers prefer necklaces, so most of the feedbacks are on them.

„Is the length of the necklace adjustable? I’m afraid it will be small too soon.”
The length of the necklaces cannot be adjusted. Most of our necklaces are about 32 cm's long. This size is usually suitable for babies up to 2 years old. As for the size of the neck, the neck of a baby is often thicker up to the 6th month than later. From the 6th month the baby’s movement develops by rapid leaps, as a result of which, the “Michelin neck” slowly disappears. The neck of a baby does not grow as much as its other body parts. Imagine, how would babies look like.  In our webshop you find baby necklaces in several sizes and longer brother/sister matching necklaces as well.

„Is there a difference in efficiency by colour?”
There is no difference in efficiency by colour. The colour is only a matter of choice. The colour of the amber (fossilized pine tree resin) depends on the effects that it was exposed to during the millions of years. (The tone of amber varies as its FeS2 content and the degree of the numerous outer effects change.)

„What are the clasps of the baby and women necklaces made of?”
Our screw clasps are metal-free, and therefore hypoallergenic. The lock mount of our necklaces and bracelets are made from amber. Inside of the amber lock mount, there is a small plastic spiral to open or to close the necklace or the bracelet.

„When should the necklace be worn? Can it be worn day-and-night?”
In order to achieve the desired effect, the necklace should be worn continuously, but always under supervision.

„What if the necklace breaks and the baby swallows one or two beads? Or if the baby takes the necklace in his/her mouth and chews on it?”
If the necklace breaks, it should be immediately taken away from the baby. As all small parts, the bead poses choking hazard. In case the baby swallows a bead, it should not do any harm to him/her. Amber is absolutely harmless, it is so to speak digestible. Since ancient times, powdered amber has been used as a digestive aid, a dietary supplement and even as a cosmetic ingredient. Therefore, as the amber reaches the digestive canal, it can do no harm. Furthermore, since all the beads are inpidually hand-knotted on the thread, the baby cannot swallow more than one bead.

„From what age can the amber necklace be worn?”
There is no restriction on age. We recommend starting wearing the teething necklace from the 3rd-4th month. The earlier the baby starts wearing the necklace, the easier it becomes a part of him/her. Older babies might have difficulties accepting and wearing a necklace.

„Up to what age can the amber necklace be worn? "
We recommend that you put the necklace on your baby until teething is completed (about 2 years old), or only for the periods of teething and not longer. Children older than 2 should not wear any necklaces for safety reasons. However, the necklaces could be kept and could be put on at times of illnesses, using the pain relieving and calming properties of amber.
